Queen Elizabeth's big snub was the straw that broke the camel's back for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Queen Elizabeth's decision to 'sideline' was the straw that broke the camel's back for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Queen Elizabeth II may have given Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the final push they needed to leave the Royal Family.

In 2019, the Sussexes spent Christmas in the US with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland and were left “furious” after the Queen “sidelined” them during her Christmas broadcast.

Archie's great-grandmother had family portraits displayed on her desk for the broadcast, but none of them showed Harry, Meghan and their son. Her portrait was “notably absent.”

In the book by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand Finding freedom, The authors claim that the royals were “conspiring against them” with this measure.

It reads: “You need look no further than the family photographs displayed during the Queen's speech on Christmas Day. In the Green Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace, where the Queen made her speech, onlookers were treated to photographs of the [Waleses] and their children, Charles and Camilla, Prince Philip and a black and white image of George VI.”

They suggested this was “another sign that they needed to consider their own path”, prompting them to step down as working royals in 2020.

Three months later, Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito, California, where they currently reside with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
