Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) politician Sanam Javaid Khan was arrested soon after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore approved her bail plea on Monday in a case related to arson at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML). -N) office.

Meanwhile, the investigation police arrested the already jailed PTI politician after she was booked in a fresh case of arson during the May 9 riots that occurred after PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested in a corruption case.

Sanam, who was earlier popular as a party activist on social media, will now be shifted to Shadman police station as the case against her was registered there.

Earlier today, the court announced its reserved verdict after completing arguments by lawyers following a bail plea filed by Sanam against the case registered by the Model Town police for burning the office of the Shehbaz Sharif-led party.

The jailed PTI candidate announced that he will contest the upcoming elections on February 8 against PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz and former National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq from Lahore. On December 19, he filed nomination papers to contest the election for a provincial assembly seat, PP-150. He also announced that he will participate in the elections for two National Assembly seats, NA-120 and NA-119.

She will face Maryam for NA-119 and PP-150, and Sadiq for NA-120.

However, her documents were rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), a decision which she challenged before the Appellate Tribunal of the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the returning officer (RO). But the court upheld the RO's decision to reject Sanam's nomination papers for all seats.

The PTI politician then filed an appeal before the Supreme Court, which was approved and allowed Sanam, including other PTI leaders such as Parvez Elahi and Shuakat Basra, to also contest the elections.

Following the SC verdict, announced last Friday, he was allowed to participate in the NA-119, NA-120 and PP-150 polls.

Sanam is among dozens of PTI workers and leaders who are detained for over eight months in connection with the May 9 riots that broke out following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan in a corruption case.

She was prosecuted in multiple cases, including an attack on the Corps Commander's House in Lahore and the burning of police vehicles in the Cantonment area during violent protests last year.
