Property tax improved and expanded to entire Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has increased and expanded property tax in Islamabad to the entire city in a bid to boost revenue collection. News reported on Saturday.

Previously, the development authority collected property taxes only in some sectors and for the first time a fixed rate of property tax was introduced.

The CDA will provide 10% tax concession to workers of private and government companies registered with the Employees' Old Age Benefits Institute and the same relief will be given for arrears paid before September 30 every year.

The authority has exempted public hospitals, educational institutions, libraries and government organizations, but semi-government organizations would have to pay property tax.

Tax criteria

Houses of 140 sq yards in model towns and PHA Kurri housing scheme in sector E-11 would have to pay a tax of Rs 24,000 per year, while owners of houses of 4,000 sq yards would have to pay a tax of 200,000 rupees there.

Similarly, owners of 140-yard houses would have to pay a tax of Rs 25,000 to the civic body and the tax on 2,000-square-yard houses in Park Enclave would increase to Rs 227,000 a year.

A tax of Rs 27,000 for five marla and Rs 298,000 for six kanal houses would have to be paid annually to the authority in DHA, Bahria Town and Bahria Enclave.

For houses in Gulberg and Naval Anchorage, the lowest and maximum taxes will be Rs 20,000 and Rs 170,000, respectively.

Furthermore, the property tax for series D would be between Rs 27,000 and Rs 246,000; for the G series, it would be between Rs 28,000 and Rs 249,000; for F series, it would be between Rs 35,000 and Rs 1.2 million; and for series I, it would be between Rs 25,000 and Rs 271,000 maximum.
