Prince William has relied on his stepmother, Queen Camilla, in the absence of his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles.
As the monarch and Princess of Wales battle their respective health issues, the Princes of Wales have turned to Camilla for support.
According to royal expert Jennie Bond, Charles and Catherine's health problems have brought William and Camilla closer as they “care” for the Crown together.
Talking with good magazine, she said. “Recent events have obviously brought William and Camilla very close. They have been left, almost literally, to look after the Crown while the King and Princess recover.
“Their teams will work more closely to coordinate agendas and cover commitments that have been planned, and Camilla and William are likely to have been in much closer regular contact.”
The expert went on to suggest that Prince William may have also received help from his stepmother outside of his official royal duties.
“Apart from the business aspect, I'm sure they also helped each other emotionally,” she said. “They will both have been very concerned about these unexpected health problems and I imagine they will have shared their concerns.”
Bond continued: “As a teenager, William took his time accepting Camilla as 'the other woman' in his father's life. His feelings towards her were complicated, having witnessed his mother's unhappiness in marriage.
“But maturity brought with it the realization that Camilla makes her father extremely happy… and the Prince now knows that she is the love of his life.”
