Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's trip receives more coverage than William's visit to the Isles of Scilly

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Nigeria tour overshadows Prince William's 'royal' visit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of “overshadowing” Prince William's royal visit to the Isles of Scilly with their trip to Nigeria, even though they are no longer royals.

According to royal correspondent Cameron Walker, the Sussexes have stolen the spotlight from William's solo visit, which he says “might raise some royal eyebrows.”

He said Good morning america, “If you had been in a coma for the last four years and watched the coverage of Harry and Meghan's trip to Nigeria, you would be forgiven for thinking that the two were still active members of the Royal Family.”

“On the surface, this plays out like a real tour,” the expert added. “They visited a school this morning for a mental health summit, they also went to a kindergarten class, Meghan revealed that her daughter's favorite class is dancing and singing.”

“It all sounds like a real tour. The purpose of the trip is that Nigeria was part of the Invictus Games for the first time last year,” Walker shared. “Nigeria is looking forward to hosting the games in the future. “Meghan revealed on her Archetypes podcast last year that she is 43 percent Nigerian.”

The expert noted how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “could surprise the royals” as they are no longer active members of the royal family, having stepped down from their roles in 2020.

“This is being run as a royal tour and King Charles is the head of the Commonwealth and has not yet had the opportunity to visit,” he added. “He has overshadowed Prince William's visit to the Isles of Scilly, his first time as Duke of Cornwall.”

“Yes, Harry and Meghan are absolutely within their rights to do this, it seems to be going quite successfully so far, but it surprises some royals.”
