LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is currently in a fix with its heavyweights involved in a dispute over the party’s tickets to compete in the upcoming elections, scheduled for February 8. News reported citing sources on Wednesday.
Therefore, the party is yet to resolve the dispute between these party leaders over the distribution of tickets in some of the constituencies where they wish to contest the elections.
PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a meeting of his party leaders at his Jati Umrah residence, where discussions were held to discuss the differences between those contending for candidatures for certain constituencies. .
According to sources, consultations were held on the issue of distribution of tickets for the general elections on the second day of the meeting, but no conclusion was reached.
Sources added that efforts were made for reconciliation among party leaders including Ayaz Sadiq, Sheikh Rohail Asghar and Talal Chaudhry among others.
Asghar, according to sources, wants to contest the NA-121 elections and categorically refused to withdraw his papers at the last pro-Sadiq party meeting.
Sources mentioned that 12 union council presidents from NA-121 expressed their support for Sadiq, who also submitted his nomination papers from NA-119 and NA-117.

Sources said the issue of seat adjustment with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) was also discussed in the PML-N meeting. They claimed that the party leadership was willing to give up one National Assembly seat and two provincial assembly seats to the IPP in Lahore, but some raised objections.
Meanwhile, sources claimed that the dispute between Ahsan Iqbal and Daniyal Aziz was also not resolved as the former filed nomination papers in PP-54 and PP-54 Narowal.
These seats belong to NA-75 from where Daniyal Aziz was contesting the elections and he wanted party tickets for these two provincial assembly seats for his blue-eyed people.
