KARACHI: Following its prediction of rising temperatures a day earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday said the city is expected to experience drizzle and light rain in the latter part of today.

The Met Office has said that a fresh wave of monsoon will hit Sindh, including the metropolis, from July 18 or 19.

Although the country's financial hub received some scattered showers earlier this week, residents have had little respite from the heat and sweltering weather in recent days.

With a sea breeze blowing at 18 kilometres per hour in the city, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature recorded in the city was 30.5°C.

While the PMD has ruled out another heatwave in the megacity, it has said the mercury is expected to rise in the next two to three days with temperatures reaching as high as 37°C to 38°C.

The prediction is in line with observations by weather expert Jawad Memon, who said that the temperature in Karachi is expected to rise by up to 3°C from Monday (tomorrow).
