ISLAMABAD: As part of his one-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold talks on Thursday with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on issues of mutual interest with a special focus on trade and investment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz was received by Vice President and President of the Presidential Court of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi. Pakistani Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al Zaabi and other Pakistani and Emirati authorities were also present at the airport.
This is the prime minister's maiden visit to the UAE since he took over as prime minister after the 2024 general elections. Shehbaz is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising key ministers of the federal cabinet.
He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi. among others.
During the visit, the prime minister will also meet other Emirati dignitaries, businessmen and heads of financial institutions.
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have long-standing fraternal relations, deeply rooted in religious-cultural affinity. Frequent high-level exchanges are a distinctive feature of fraternal ties between the two countries.
Pakistan's envoy to the UAE, Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, returned to the UAE last weekend to fine-tune arrangements for Prime Minister Shehbaz's visit.
The Prime Minister's visit marks an important step towards further deepening the multifaceted bilateral collaboration between Pakistan and the Gulf nation.
UAE Consul General in Karachi Bakheet Ateeq Al-Remeithi said on April 18 that Pakistanis played a great role in the development of Dubai.
He said this during the opening ceremony of an Arabic language center at the government vocational training institute in the buffer zone. The Arabic language center was inaugurated by Al-Remeithi.
The consul general had said that Pakistanis would be given preferential jobs in all sectors and soon vocational center students would also be called to the UAE visa centre. He had urged students not to believe anti-national videos on social media and delete them.
