KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Riffat Mukhtar on Monday assured Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf of “foolproof” security for matches of the flagship tournament of the country scheduled to be held in Karachi.
With the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) getting underway on February 17, Mukhtar met the PCB chief at the Police Headquarters in Karachi to reflect on security measures related to the conduct of PSL matches.
During the meeting, according to a statement, the senior police officer reiterated that Sindh Police has always maintained a high state of alert and security in every major event at the National Stadium, which will host a total of 11 matches, including the qualifier, two knockouts and the final. final.
“Security matters will be handled with complete professionalism and extraordinary measures in all aspects,” the IG said.
Meanwhile, Ashraf expressed his complete satisfaction with the contingency plans approved for the PSL matches and expressed his gratitude to the police officer.
Ashraf further assured security and confirmed the cooperative commitment of both himself and the PCB management towards all possible collaboration.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan's flagship cricket tournament will begin in Lahore with the opening match between the two-time champions and defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, against Islamabad United, winners of the 2016 and 2018 editions.
