Parvez Elahi suffers bone fracture after falling in the bathroom of Adial prison

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Parvez Elahi, imprisoned in Adiala Jail, suffered a bone fracture due to a fall while using the toilet, it was learned on Tuesday, when the prison official presented a medical report in a local court in Lahore.

The deputy superintendent of Adiala jail informed the Lahore Anti-Corruption Court during the hearing of a case against Elahi, related to illegal recruitment in the Punjab Assembly, about the former chief minister's medical condition.

The deputy superintendent of the jail told the judge, Arshad Hussain Bhutta, that Elahi had fallen in the bathroom on March 17, causing a fracture.

Meanwhile, the suspects' indictment, which was due to be presented in court today, could not be issued because the number of suspects was not complete. The judge summoned the suspects to the next hearing and adjourned the process until April 4.

It should be noted that Elahi has been facing medical issues for a while.

On December 23, 2023, the PTI president was shifted to a hospital from Adiala jail after feeling pain in his chest.

According to jail sources, Elahi had been shifted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology due to a heart problem. Sources had added that the former CM was complaining of chest pain since last night.
