Pakistani shooters get off to a bad start at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Pakistani shooters Kishmala Talat and Gulfam Joseph had a poor start to the Paris 2024 Olympics as the latter finished 22nd out of 33 shooters in the men's 10m air pistol competition, and failed to qualify for the final round as he could only score 571 out of 600 points.

As for Kishmala, she also failed to advance to the final round of the women's 10m air pistol competition and finished 32nd out of 44 participating shooters.

The shooter managed to score 567 points, and in the six series in which she participated, she obtained 93, 97, 94, 93, 95 and 95 points respectively.

The two athletes will now compete in the mixed team shooting event on July 29 after failing to reach the final in their respective categories.

Pakistan's convoy to the Paris Olympics also includes seven athletes accompanied by 11 officials.

Apart from Kishmala and Gulfam, aspiring Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, sprinter Faiqa Riaz and swimmers Mohammad Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi are also set to compete in their respective events.

The seven athletes and 11 officials were received by the Embassy of Pakistan in Paris, France on Thursday. The reception was also attended by IPC Minister Rana Sanaullah.

The event was also attended by Usman Khan, who pulled out of the mega event being held in Paris due to some technical issues as he resides close to the venue hosting the Olympic Games in Paris.
