Oprah Winfrey just expressed her gratitude to GLAAD for honoring her with the Vanguard Award on March 14, 2024.
The Oprah Winfrey Show The presenter used her official Instagram account to upload a montage of photographs and videos from Thursday night's ceremony.
“Since the early years of my career, I wanted to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ people to share their stories, whether through television, magazines or conversations,” her caption read.
In the first video, Winfrey can be seen giving her acceptance speech in which she thanked the GLAAD platform for the award and showed her unwavering support for the LGBTQ community.
Winfrey's caption continued: “Every person deserves to love who they love and be the person they most want to be. Thank you @GLAAD for the important work you do but also for honoring me with this year's Vanguard Award.”
“I dedicate it to my late brother Jeffrey Lee, who would have loved these times of liberation,” the note further said.
Along with photos from the show, Oprah Winfrey's second speech included a tribute to her late brother, Jeffery Lee, who died at the age of 29 from AIDS.
