Noah Cyrus, daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, defends her father amid her mother Tish's divorce.
Noah, who has been closer to his father since his early years, understands their positions and tries to support the division.
“Noah is very loyal to Billy Ray,” a source tells PEOPLE: “She and Billy Ray have always had a very close relationship.”
“It hasn't been easy for either child,” the source adds of the divorce. “The separation from his parents was very hard, but it also should have happened a long time ago.”
This comes as Tish and Billy Ray announced their separation saying: “After 30 years, five wonderful children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways, not with sadness, but with love in our hearts. We grew up together, we formed a family we can be very proud of and now is the time to create our own paths.”
