A video clip with thousands of opinions and interactions in social networks states that the main minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, admitted in a recent televised speech that her government and the broader political configuration are on the edge of the collapse.
The claim is false.
Say
On February 19, a Facebook user published a brief clip of Maryam Nawaz Sharif with the title: “Maryam Nawaz has finally realized that the end is close.”
In the video, Sharif is heard saying: “Thank God, this system is now in the end. My political opposition will continue, that is not a problem for me. But I will never forgive those who have harmed my country.”
The clip has seen more than 467,000 times, shared more than 670 times and liked more than 4,700 times.
Another Facebook user shared the same video with the text: “The nation has been avenged for damaging the country by ending you and your family's policy on February 8 [national election]. Maryam Nawaz has also finally realized that the end [of her government] It is close. “
Made
Prime Minister's comments are being misrepresented online. In the full version of the televised speech, Maryam Nawaz Sharif does not refer to the collapse of his own government. Instead, he is talking about the alleged fall of his political rivals, specifically the Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI).
An inverse image and a keyword search confirms that the video was cut from a speech that Sharif gave on February 19 to the launch of electric buses in Lahore.
In his 30 -minute direction, he criticized PTI for his role in the disturbances of May 9, blaming them for long -term damage to the country.
In the 23:50 mark in the full video, Sharif says:
“What are you giving to youth? Gasoline bombs and sticks to fall heads. They have been doing this since 2010. They have destroyed Pakistan. Thank God that this system is now on the edge of its end. My political opposition will continue, I will continue politics, it is not a problem, but I will never forgive anyone who has harmed my country.”
Verdict: The video clip is shared outside context. Maryam Nawaz Sharif referred to Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf. He was not talking about his own government in Punjab or the position of his party at the federal level.
