Meghan Markle and Prince Harry used 3,000 staff on 'free holidays'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spent a huge amount of Colombian pesos during their recent visit to the South American country.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were called to testify by Senator María Fernanda Cabal, who brought to light the resources that were wasted in hosting the couple.

Speaking about the Prime Minister, the expert said: “Francia Márquez, after watching Harry and Meghan’s story on Netflix, brought them to Colombia for seven days at a daily cost of no less than 34,892,186 pesos (£6,426), money that belongs to the Colombians.”

Meanwhile, right-wing Cali city councillor Andrés Escobar tweeted: “We continue with an ancestral practice: handing over our resources in exchange for smoke and mirrors,” the Express reports.

Approximately 3,000 staff have reportedly been assigned to accommodate the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Billions that could have been used to expand coverage of children's canteens, pay salaries to community mothers, seed capital for Afro communities or adapt sports venues that are practically in ruins.”

This comes after a recent poll revealed that commentators are complaining about the protocol received by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“It's just a free vacation to keep them in the spotlight, which is paramount to them, without which they would be what they really are, nonentities,” said one.

Another added: “They are not touring like royalty. There is no protocol or dress code. This tour is to promote them, it has nothing to do with the UK government or King Charles himself. Just remember that.”
