Mark Zuckerberg's Meta confirmed to several media outlets on Wednesday that he had donated $1 million to US President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural fund.
This contribution follows a recent meeting between Meta's 40-year-old CEO and the 78-year-old president-elect at his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, signaling an effort to repair their historically strained relationship. .
He Wall Street Journal was the first to report this development, noting that Zuckerberg's team had informed Trump's inaugural committee of their plans before the dinner, according to Forbes.
Meta confirmed to Diary that he had made the donation without providing any additional details about why he decided to do so.
According to the Federal Election Commission, companies can contribute to inaugural committees without limits.
Previously, the New York Times had reported that Trump's Inaugural Committee was offering exclusive access to donors who contributed $1 million or raised $2 million.
These top-tier donors will receive six to eight tickets to key inaugural events January 17-20, including six tickets to the January 20 inauguration.
Additionally, they will have the opportunity to attend a reception with Trump's Cabinet nominees and have dinner with Vice President-elect JD Vance and his wife Usha on January 18.
The next day, the main donor will have the opportunity to have dinner with Trump himself and his wife Melania. However, it remains uncertain whether Zuckerberg or any Meta executives will attend these events.
