Lindsay Lohan 'disappointed' by joke in new 'Mean Girls'

Many jokes from the 2004 version of “Mean Girls” now seem dated, but at least one joke from the 2024 film adaptation, based on a musical based on a movie based on a book, didn't sit well with the star. from the original film.

Lindsay Lohan, who played Cady Heron in the original “Mean Girls” movie, took offense to a joke that referenced a “fire crotch.”

The line in question occurs when Cady Heron (played by Angourie Rice in the 2024 version) wears a red suit and Megan Thee Stallion, who appears in several scenes via social media, reacts by saying: “Hot girls, we're back to red. The Y2K fire crotch is back.”

Lohan, whose cameo (sorry, mild spoiler here) in the new film reportedly earned her $500,000 for four hours of work, was hurt by the line, according to a rep for the “Freaky Friday” star.

“The 'joke' was hurtful and Lindsay was disappointed,” Lohan's publicist said in a statement to the Times.

The phrase was a reference to an infamous 2006 quote from music manager and oil heir Brandon Davis about Lohan, in which he called the actor a “crotch of fire.”

“I think he's worth about $7 million, which means he's very poor,” Davis told paparazzi alongside Paris Hilton while walking the streets of Los Angeles. “It's disgusting. He lives in a motel.”

Davis continued to talk explicitly about Lohan, wondering out loud who would want to sleep with her, while Hilton and a group of friends laughed at her comments.

“And she's got a crotch of fire…” Davis said. “Lindsay Lohan, she's a crotch of fire.”

Lohan and Hilton had reportedly been feuding since 2006, when the two were seen arguing at a Los Angeles club because Lohan was rumored to have been dating Hilton's former partner, Stavros Niarchos.

Davis' rant came several days after the duo's alleged dispute over the Greek shipping heir.

Davis later apologized for his statement. “What started as a joke is completely over,” he told Page Six. “I am horrified by the words that came out of my mouth.”

Hilton attempted to distance herself from Davis' outburst after the incident.

“The only thing I want to emphasize is that the person who made the statements was not Paris Hilton. It's unfair to characterize Brandon's statements as a reflection of Paris' feelings toward Lindsay,” Hilton's publicist told TMZ in 2006. “We're dealing with two different people. It was Brandon who spoke, of course there were times when Paris laughed, but he never said anything. “Brandon spoke for himself, not for her.”

In a 2006 interview with Elle, Lohan stated that she had not seen the video of Davis' comments and had no intention of doing so.

The “Parent Trap” star also said in the Elle interview that his problem with the hotel heiress didn't start because of a love triangle. “I would never fight with a girl over a boy, it's bad karma.”

Hilton and Lohan have since buried the hatchet, according to the “Stars Are Blind” singer.

“I feel like we're adults now. I just got married. She just got engaged. We’re not in high school,” Hilton told Bravo’s Andy Cohen in January 2022. “I think he was very immature and now everything is fine.”
