King Charles set to attend Trooping the Color next month amid warning from anti-monarchy group and his battle with cancer; However, the monarch is expected to break the tradition of horse riding.
The times quoted a source as stating: “It is very likely that the King will participate in Trooping by Carriage this year, but a final decision has not yet been made.”
The report further states that while the King's cancer treatment continues, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said “upcoming engagements will be adapted where necessary” to accommodate the monarch's continued recovery.
The father of Prince William and Harry became the first monarch to appear on horseback at Trooping the Color last June.
Charles' late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, last participated in the parade in 1986.
The outlet further reported that the incident involving a restless horse during last year's event appears to have done little to persuade courtiers to convince King Charles to ride horses again this year.
Meanwhile, anti-monarchy group Republic has warned it will protest at Trooping the Color on June 15 in London.
