Kanye West and his lawyer have parted ways amid ongoing legal battles.
The rapper's lawyer, Brian Brumfield, has filed charges against the rapper for “non-payment” and “refusal to communicate.”
Brumfield has asked in his lawsuit to be relieved of representing West in his lawsuit against an autograph dealer who accused the singer of beating him. ABC7 reported.
The attorney said in the documents that West terminated their employment on June 21. Since then, West has not spoken to his former attorney or paid his legal fees.
The hearing on Brumfield's motion is scheduled for July 29. Page six reported.
The lawsuit, originally filed Jan. 10 by Justin Poplawski and his wife Tiffany Marshall, accuses West of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.
The incident allegedly occurred when Poplawski asked West for an autograph outside the Soho Warehouse social club in downtown Los Angeles in January 2022.
Poplawski claims West punched him and responded dismissively when he asked for an apology before continuing to punch him multiple times.
Poplawski believes the assault arose from West's highly publicized divorce proceedings with Kim Kardashian at the time.
