Imran orders Gandapur to cooperate with security agencies and continue engagement with SIFC for KP rights

RAWALPINDI: Jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Saturday ordered Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to continue talks for his province's rights at the Special Facilitation Council Investments (SIFC) and other federal forums, in addition to cooperating with security agencies on security-related issues.

In a statement, KP government spokesperson Advocate Mohammad Ali Saif confirmed that CM Gandapur met the party founder at Adiala Jail today to seek his guidance on important political issues.

The meeting discussed matters related to the upcoming meeting of the SIFC, a “hybrid” civil-military forum set up to attract investments from the Gulf countries, the Senate elections, the law and order situation in the province and other issues, he added. the spokesperson.

CM Gandapur also briefed the party founder in detail about his inaugural meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier this week, which was considered an important political development to lower the political temperature in the country.

After his meeting with Chief Minister Shehbaz on Wednesday, Gandpur termed his first interaction with the Prime Minister as “good and positive”.

Speaking to journalists flanked by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and other PML-N leaders after a meeting with the prime minister, CM Gandapur said that during the meeting he highlighted the need to maintain a political dialogue with the jailed founder of the PTI who has been behind bars since August of last year in different cases, ranging from corruption to terrorism.

In the same media interaction, Gandapur said that Chief Minister Shehbaz had also assured him that he would be allowed to meet the party founder at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi after the authorities tightened security measures and banned the former Prime Minister Imran hold meetings due to a 'threat alert'. .

In today's statement, Barrister Saif said that the law and order situation in the province was also a topic of discussion in the meeting with Imran, who directed CM Gandapur “to continue cooperating with security agencies on matters related to safety”.

CM Gandapur also informed Khan about the restoration of Sehat Card (health card) and Ramadan package in KP.

The PTI founder approved the former ruling party's KP candidates for the upcoming Senate elections, the spokesperson added.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will hold Senate elections next month to fill the 48 seats that fell vacant when the six-year term of the sitting senators expired last week.
