Haley Joel Osment says that “he has no excuse” for calling an official of the law an insult to the Jewish people after his recent arrest in a popular California ski resort.
The former children's star “The Sixth Sense” and brother of actor Emily Osment apologized for “using this unpleasant word” in a statement shared with multiple points of sale. The “Blink twice” actor, 37, shared his statement hours after the images of the police force chamber of his interaction with a law officer appeared Thursday night.
“I am absolutely horrified by my behavior. If I had known that I used this shameful language in the middle of a blackout, I would have spoken before,” Osment said in a statement shared with People and TMZ. “The last months of loss and displacement have broken me to a very low emotional place.”
Osment can be heard in the police images that reproduce an officer from the back of a patrol. “I have been kidnapped AF, Nazi,” he said, before telling the officer: “You will want it to treat me more pleasant.” Osment then throws the anti -Semitic insult, which flew in the video, to the officer and begins to laugh.
“You will regret this,” says Osment later in the video while the officer parks the patrol car.
But it was the actor who later expressed his regret for the incident.
“From the bottom of my heart, I apologize absolutely to everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was meaningless garbage: I have disappointed the Jewish community and devastates me, “he added.” I do not ask the forgiveness of anyone, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake. “
Osment's statement seemed mainly on its use of anti -Semitic insult and did not directly approach the arrest of the actor earlier this month. A OSment representative did not immediately respond to the request for comments of the Times on Friday.
The incident was his last encounter with the application of the law.
Osment faced legal problems for the first time in 2006 when he was accused of minor crime of drunk driving after hitting his car in the Cañada Flintridge. More than a decade later, OSment caused a police response in 2018 for allegedly making verbal threats to American Airlines staff at Las Vegas airport after losing their flight.
Native Osment of Los Angeles is among the thousands of people who lost their homes in the devastating forest fires in January.
In the last incident, the actor of “Babylon Botín” was arrested on April 8 under suspicion of public poisoning and possession of a controlled substance not identified in the popular ski resort of Mountain Mountain. The Mono County District Prosecutor's Office on Thursday confirmed to The Times who had accused Osment of two minor crimes: one for disorderly behavior that involves alcohol and the second for possession of cocaine.
Osment will be scheduled in July at the Mammoth Lakes branch of the Superior County Court of Mono, said the District Prosecutor's Office.
