Gordon Ramsay says he is 'lucky to be here' after bike accident


Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who was in a bicycle accident in Connecticut last week, showed off widespread bruising on his torso as a warning to “all the dads out there.”

In a Saturday video posted to his social media accounts ahead of Father's Day, the “Hell's Kitchen” and “Kitchen Nightmares” star demanded his followers “WEAR A HELMET,” explaining that he could have been in worse shape if he didn't. I would have used it. one.

“I was in a really bad accident this week while riding my bike in Connecticut,” Ramsay, 57, wrote on Instagram. “I'm fine and I didn't break any bones or suffer any major injuries, but I'm a little bruised and I look like a purple potato.”

The Scottish-born restaurateur, accomplished marathoner and triathlete, thanked the doctors, nurses and staff who treated him at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London. Connecticut, but he said he was “very grateful” for the helmet that he said “saved my life.”

In the video, Ramsay lifted his white chef's clothes to show that more than half of his torso was covered in purple bruises. And, in before and after photos, he showed how badly damaged his helmet and cycling jersey were.

“It really touched me and I'm obviously lucky to be here,” the reality star said, adding, “you have to wear a helmet. I don't care how short the trip is. I don't care that these helmets cost money. They are crucial. Even with children, on a short trip, they have to wear a helmet.”

The father of six wished his followers a happy Father's Day, but on a slightly somber note.

“I'm suffering. It's been a brutal week and I'm getting through it,” the “MasterChef” star said. “Wear a helmet. “If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be here right now.”
