George Lynch details his “somewhat terrifying” journey into bodybuilding

George Lynch has just opened up about pushing his limits on guitar, one of the reasons he is considered one of the most influential guitarists of the 1980s.

Additionally, in the 80s and 90s, most rock stars and icons were also expected to maintain a certain physique which Lynch worked hard to keep intact, along with an impeccable fashion sense.

While promoting her new project called Casandra's Crossing and a collaborative album with Cassandra Carson, titled, Garden of Earthly Delights, The guitar legend revealed how bodybuilding affected his guitar playing skills.

“Yeah, it definitely did. I mean, in some ways, I think it obviously made me stronger. So I think it was beneficial to a certain extent,” he began.

He In my dreams The guitarist continued: “But I was also starting to get really bad cramps in my forearms. Static cramps that wouldn’t go away. And they would come on when I tried to play something extended. And I had to try to do different things to try to relieve them.”

“But yeah, it was a consequence of that. All that weight lifting really made it impossible for me to play at times. Any long solo, my left arm would cramp up and my hand would go into a claw. It would freeze up. It was really scary. And yeah, it wasn't good. I was definitely overdoing it,” George Lynch concluded.
