French police arrest suspect in Paris knife attack

At least three people were injured as a result of a knife attack early Saturday at the Gare de Lyon train station in Paris, police said, adding that the alleged attacker has been arrested.

Sharing details of the attack which took place around 8am, a police source said: “The suspect did not shout (any religious slogans) during his attack. He presented the police with an Italian driving licence.”

According to authorities, two of the victims suffered minor injuries, while the third was more serious but was not in danger of death. Reuters reported.

The motive of the alleged attacker was not immediately clear.

According SunThe main station connects national trains in France, as well as with Switzerland, Italy and the Eurostar.

A part was closed after the surprise on Saturday morning.

Le Parisien reports that the suspect has “psychiatric disorders”, but this has not yet been confirmed by police.

In addition, they affirm that there are still no signs of terrorist links, since the investigation is in a very early phase.

French rail operator SNCF said on X: “There is currently an intervention by police and emergency services in pavilions 1 and 3, making them temporarily inaccessible.”

The operator also informed passengers and visitors of possible delays following the incident.
