Fabrizio Guido de 'Running Point' has become a fans favorite

Unlike his character Jackie Moreno in the Netflix situation comedy “Running Point”, Fabrizio Guido was not a basketball connoisseurs before booking the concert. He likes pugilism.

“I constantly compare to act [to] Boxing, ”said Angeleno, 25, about the call informing him that he portrayed Moreno, a concession worker for the fictitious waves of Los Angeles who discovers that it is the product of an adventure and, in turn, the youngest and new member of a family basketball dynasty.

“I remember that I just throw both hands in the air as if he had just boxed 12 rounds and it was the knockout that he had been looking for.”

The comedy series, which premiered on February 27, stars Kate Hudson as Gordon Island, the only sister of a family of brothers who often overlooks but that is unexpectedly designated as the new president of Waves.

The revelation that Jackie is a loving child and Gordon's fifth brother is one of the many meetings with Blips Island, since he seeks to demonstrate his worth in an industry dominated by men.

Like his new half -sister, Jackie, 19, seeks to demonstrate her worth as a new member of the Gordon clan. Although he is a stranger in the family, Jackie's comic chops have made it a fans favorite for his lines outside the fist and his perfect delivery.

Humor is a skill that Guido has created in previous roles such as Mikey Gutiérrez in the Netflix series “Mr. Iglesias,” as Dennis (also known as Baby Joker) in Laura Steinel “Family” movie, and Mr. Jensen in the “Burger” of Paramount.

They spoke with Guido after advertisement of the renewal of “running point” for a second season.

The following questions and answers have been edited slightly for clarity and length.

Tell me more about you. Where did you grow up?

I am born and raised. I was born in Montebello. To be honest with you, I am at a point in my life where I can't claim exactly anywhere because I moved a lot when I was a child. I spent a lot of time in Whittier, Pico Rivera. I lived in Culver City at one time and in San Diego for a couple of years. My formative years I spent in Alhambra, near City Terrace, so that the whole east [L.A.] community.

How did you get the role of Jackie Moreno?

It was a very traditional type of process. An audition came to my path from my team; It was “execution point.” The role was Jackie Moreno, who was a 19 -year -old boy from Los Angeles, Boyle Heights specifically.

They wanted someone with very strong comic chops. I feel that was a great approach to paper. I read it and fell in love with this character. I felt that I could bring more to what the page had to offer, and that is not a blow to our writers. This is an essence with which I am familiar, a culture with which I am familiar.

They told me that the audition went very well. They said that I was their best choice. I wake up a day later, and my phone is exploding. My DM are full of open casting [call] that [co-creator] Mindy Kaling played the same role. I thought: “I thought we were tight!”

I just said thanks to everyone who sends casting's call in my way, and I was like, you know what, I'm happy. In fact, I am very happy for this. I feel it is a perfect opportunity to attack the impostor syndrome and get it out of the way. I thought: “I have to feel that I won it. Good. This is perfect. We go against the world. Let's do this. ”
BAM. I sent [in the tape]. I felt that the paper was mine.

Walk during the day when you received the news that you reserved Jackie Moreno?

I can't describe it, but I felt like a battle horse that blocks noise a lot.

I constantly compare act with boxing. I am not talking about being beaten or that is a fight. When I say fight, I mean the beautiful sport that is boxing. I felt like a fight for these 12 rounds. I remember that I was alone at home and my agents had talked to my mother.

The call entered my mother. She is on the other side of the phone crying: “They love you for this program.”

It was exactly the project I wanted.

What are some personal elements that resonate with you and your character?

To start, it was definitely the cultural aspect. I knew that Jackie could have to enter a Spaniard and I said “perfect.” A large part of the life of this character is his relationship with his mother and what it is to deal with his loss. I love ESO layers. I think everyone deals with the loss. I am a little older than Jackie, so I had to return it to a younger part of me that I felt I was excited and ready to learn.

And you have to work with Keyla Monterroso Mejia In one of the first scenes. How was that?

I was talking to her last week. She called me. She is the best. I was very excited to have the opportunity to work with her because I feel that you can see one side that is not always seen in that comedy style.

Tell me how you could form a screen on screen with your older brothers, rich and white?

I think that in the same way as Jackie: I don't want to say that he wanted to be accepted, but he was thirsty for understanding them. I feel like that thirst for me personally [was] as an artist. I sat down, listening to them talking. I would listen to the life experience they have. They are so easy to get along, so fun.

Often, we programmed small lunches when we could meet as a family. I had the opportunity to work with each of them in individual scenes. Then that was lent to enter into conversations more focused with them.

Did the cast give you any advice?

I often were looking for a Brenda song for sports advice, because she is very, very knowledgeable, and I am not as knowledgeable as Brenda.

So she would talk to her about rumors and commercial things, and she served as a great guide, and that kind of transition was done as, “Hello. How do you know when a project is suitable for you? How do you know how to make these movements? Brenda has just been incredible when giving me his opinion about things and how he has moved through his career.

My other brothers, I love them because they are a joy to be close. His advice has been all about life, relationships.

You have worked closely with the comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias in his program “Mr. Iglesias” and I have also made a comedy standing yourself. Do you see yourself staying in the kingdom of comedy?

[Stand-up] Comedy is my most recent passion thanks to Fluffy. I am not looking exactly doing anything with this. I just want to do it for my own satisfaction. I'm going there and have fun. That is my goal every time I go up. I get super nervous about something, and I say: “Hey, you have nothing to prove, nothing to win.”

I would love to go on tour. I love every time they invite me to open for someone I admire. I love being out late at night with other comics and listening to your set, making jokes, spending my days writing. It is a huge and very important part of my life at this time.

There is this clip of you like Dennis, a.k.to. Baby Joker of the 2018 “Family” movie That has been circulating on social networks. I also notice in the comments sections of the “Execution Point” promotions. What do you think of that?

He came out of nowhere honestly. I had made that film a couple of years ago. It is a fantastic movie. It has really been great to see this video resurgence. Now, anything that is published about the “Execution Point”, there is always some kind of comment about Baby Joker. People love Dennis! I am glad that I am bringing points of view to the movie because I have always felt that it is such a strong comic movie, and I just want to give Laura its flowers.

What was your reaction to the “execution point?'sSEason 2 renewal?

I was asleep and my phone began to congratulate. I thought this could still come from people who are only looking. Then it was an article that revealed that it was renewed for season 2. It was a good morning, really exciting, but still, I thought: “Is this true? As, what is happening?
