Emmy 2024: Predictions (and voting tips) for the top 15 categories

Emmy voting is underway, and if you're one of the 24,000 members of the Television Academy and wondering if there's still time to watch all three seasons of “Reservation Dogs” to finally catch up, the answer is: Yes. But get to work. Ballots are due June 24.

Is there ever enough time to watch it all and be a fully informed Emmy voter? Probably not. There are a handful of shows I never got around to watching, despite my best intentions. And no, I won't reveal them because I don't need your judgment. I didn't berate (beyond a small silent reprimand to myself) the newcomers to “Reservation Dogs,” as I don't think anyone can be blamed for not trying each and every one of the 300+ series featured. Unless you haven't seen “Shōgun.” So we need to talk.

Another issue bothering voters this year is that there are too many worthy contenders in the limited series categories and not enough decent dramas to reward, making voting equally challenging but for different reasons. Comedies? Just fine. As long as the “Reserve Dogs” are finally rewarded. But again, there is no judgment. (Still.)

Here's a quick rundown of the series and the actors who seem to be registering with voters, along with viewing suggestions for anyone still doing their homework. I'll be checking them out shortly before the Emmy nominations are announced on July 17.
