SpaceX owner Elon Musk will visit Indonesia this Sunday to launch the space agency's Starlink satellite unit, according to two cabinet ministers.
According to a Reuters According to a report, Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, a close ally of President Joko Widodo, has revealed that Musk, 52, would accompany the country's leader to the resort island of Bali to launch the service.
This would be the technology mogul's first personal visit to Indonesia.
However, he has previously spoken via video link at a conference in Indonesia.
Luhut had revealed that Musk is also scheduled to speak at the World Water Forum in Bali.
The launch of Starlink will take place at a clinic in Denpasar, the capital of Bali, where Musk had planned to sign an agreement on connectivity for the health sector, Communications Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said.
Starlink obtained a permit to commercially offer its internet services in Indonesia earlier this month for retail consumers, Budi revealed last week.
Starlink will cooperate with local network access providers and Indonesia hopes the company will provide Internet services in its remote areas.
