Ellen DeGeneres reflects on workplace toxicity allegations

Ellen DeGeneres has opened up about the emotional toll that allegations of a toxic work environment have taken on her talk show.

In his latest Netflix special, Ellen DeGeneres: For your approvalEllen expressed her feelings about the scandal in July 2020.

Ellen described the allegations as “devastating.” She was quoted as saying: “I'm happy to not be a boss, or a brand, or a billboard, but just a person.” PEOPLE magazine.

The former talk show host emphasized her complexity as a person, saying, “I'm a multifaceted person with different feelings and emotions, and I can be happy and sad and compassionate or frustrated. I have OCD and ADHD. I'm honest. I'm generous. I'm sensitive and considerate.”

“But I am tough, I am impatient and I am demanding. I am direct. I am a strong woman,” she added, which received applause from the audience.

Reflecting on her experience as a public figure, Ellen said: “I've spent my whole life trying to make people happy and cared too much about what other people thought of me. So the idea that someone would think I was bad was devastating to me and it consumed me for a long time.”
