Elle King just took the “right path” for this year!
The 35-year-old singer has just been inspired by the veteran and legendary country musician, Willie Nelson, to release a ballad with a different touch, titled Roadon September 20, 2024.
In a conversation with PEOPLE In an interview with the magazine, she stated: “Since last year, if something went wrong or something bothered me, my manager would be like, 'High Road 2024,' and that was our motto: 'Take the fucking high road, bitch. Be the person you hope to be in any situation.'”
“It's a phrase we've always used,” King recalled, as he detailed the inspiration for his latest song.
He It's worth a try The singer wrote High Road in the shower and finished it with her friend, bassist Paul DeVincenzo. “We do this all the time: I write a song and then we play it on tour, and most of the time, it doesn't make it on the record,” King said.
“But now I've been writing these songs that tell a story and are fun, but have a more classic country feel to them, which is my favorite material,” she added.
Excited about how Elle King has been inspired by the Highwayman “We've been fortunate enough to be able to open for Willie Nelson a couple of times, and I've been able to sing with him. I'm not trying to make a Willie Nelson record, but at the same time, his music and all that '70s country music has really had a huge impact and influence on my storytelling and my music,” she told the outlet.
