Drake Bell opened up about the allegations against him while addressing the sexual abuse he himself faced.
In the new Research discovery docuseries Silence on the set: The dark side of children's televisionhe Drake and Josh The actor broke his silence about the repeated sexual abuse he faced as a teenager, perpetrated by Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck.
Drake opened up about the darker side of his life in the final segment of the four-part series.
“There was definitely a slow deterioration in my mental health and my sobriety, meaning DUI, behaviors that were happening because I was lost,” he said.
In 2021, Drake was found guilty of “attempted child endangerment” and “a misdemeanor count of disseminating material harmful to minors.”
The allegations also included inappropriate text messages he sent to a teenage girl in 2017, which led to two years of probation, with an additional 200 hours of community service.
“I took responsibility for that, you know, I did what they asked, but the media took over so much misinformation and it completely destroyed me,” Drake spoke about the child endangerment case against him.
He added: “And I started to lose control. If I had continued down that path, that could very likely be the end of my story. “I was at rock bottom, so I went into treatment and had to go through a lot of trauma therapy, a lot of grief therapy, and being around people who, for the first time in a long time, wanted to just watch me get better.”
