The PTI, without naming the PML-N, demanded that Article 6 of the Constitution be invoked against those who took unconstitutional steps despite the fact that there is a Constitution in the country, and asked the allies of the ruling coalition government to clarify their position on the plan to ban the former ruling party.

At a press conference in Islamabad on Monday, party leaders also condemned the federal government's decision to ban the party founded by Imran Khan.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan said that allies of the ruling coalition, including the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), do not support the government in its possible attempt to ban the party.

“We appeal to the PPP and MQM-P to clarify their position as the ANP has already clarified its position on the issue,” he added.

All other democratic parties should clarify their position if they support the government's “unconstitutional” move, Omar said: “Do they support democracy or civil martial law?”

The senior party leader said that at least 30 million people voted for PTI and Imran Khan in the February 8 elections, and all other political parties combined could not win.

Criticising the current government for its budget, Ayub said the country is facing higher inflation based on the measures the government has taken so far.

He added that the price increase has not yet reached greater heights as the government has increased power tariffs.

“Electricity was Rs 17 per unit under the PTI government, which has now crossed Rs 85 per unit,” he said, predicting that the electricity tariff would touch Rs 100 per unit. “The dollar has been artificially fixed at Rs 275… the greenback will cross Rs 350.”
