Damien Chazelle isn't exactly sure he has Babylon as part of his filmography.
Starring Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, the 2022 film only grossed $15 million domestically on an $80 million budget and didn't win any awards.
Damien, who has an Oscar-winning film The The Earth and Lash to his name, he is now certain that having a flop movie on his resume won't help him finance future projects.
Chazelle knows what to have Babylon on your resume will not help fund future projects, as noted during.
“Certainly, financially speaking, Babylon didn't work out at all,” he admitted in an interview with TCM. Sound film podcast.
“You try not to have that effect on what you're doing creatively, but on some level it can't help but affect it. But maybe that's okay? I have a very mixed opinion on this. Who knows. Maybe I can't do this one. I have no idea. We will have to wait and see,” she explained.
Damien further added: “I've been with my head in the sand. I've been pretty busy writing. This way I will have a real idea of how it has changed or not. [since Babylon] once I finish this script and try to do it.”
In addition, he revealed that he will not have a budget of Babylon size in the short term, “I'm in a sort of uneasy state of mind, but I'm not getting my hopes up.”
