KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) is facing internal disputes over the induction of its chief Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui into the federal cabinet and the appointment of a new governor to replace Kamran Tessori.

Differences within the party intensified after party ad hoc committee chief Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was inducted into Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's federal cabinet and sworn in as minister at the Centre.

Party sources say that when the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) merged with the MQM-P and the old members, including Farooq Sattar, returned, they all unanimously decided that no member or head of the MQM-P Coordination Committee would hold any position. or ministry in the government. .

However, Siddiqui's own inauguration as a federal minister has exacerbated internal disputes, leaving the party facing difficulties once again, with senior party leaders trying to get it out of this crisis.

Last week, the party's Rábita Committee, the highest decision-making body, was also dissolved days after audios of its main leaders were leaked on social networks.

Siddiqui, according to the party spokesperson, took the decision to dissolve the current Rabita Committee.

“The Rábita Committee is dissolved. It will be constituted again. In the second phase, all departments, provincial committees, zones, cities and UC will be reorganized,” said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson added that Siddiqui has formed an ad hoc committee, which he will head. He will also consist of Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, Nasreen Jalil, Anis Kaimkhani, Kaif-ul-Wara and Rizwan Babar.

Meanwhile, a source within the party confirmed to Geographic news: “The Rábita Committee has been dissolved due to audio leaks.”

Two audio leaks (one from Kamal and another from Sindh governor and MQM-P leader Kamran Tessori) from the Rabita Committee meetings went viral on social media last month.

Both leaders admitted that their audio leaks were genuine, but Kamal went ahead and alleged that it was released by an MQM-London member who was also a member of the Rabita Committee.
