Eurosport TV channel on Sunday removed a commentator from its coverage of the Paris Olympics after he made a sexist remark during the swimming competition.
Bob Ballard made the comment about Australia's swimmers after they won gold in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay on Saturday.
In a video that went viral on social media, Ballard said: “Well, women are finishing up. You know what women are like… running around, putting on makeup.” Ballard's commentator Lizzie Simmonds called the comment “outrageous.”
“During a segment of Eurosport's coverage last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment,” Eurosport said in a statement.
“For that reason, he has been removed from our commentator roster effective immediately.” There was no immediate reaction from Ballard.
