Charlize Theron supports the drag community on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’


Charlize Theron expressed her support for the drag community in an appearance as a guest judge on the season 16 premiere of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

In a clip that was widely shared on social media after the episode premiered Friday on MTV, the Oscar-winning actress gave a pep talk to the show’s contestants, urging them to stand firm amid a rising wave of anti-terrorism legislation. -LGBTQ+ that has been aimed at drag artists.

“I just wanted to say that given the current climate in our country, a lot of energy is being put into your community not existing. I really think that all of that comes from fear,” Theron told the competitors. “The beauty of who you are, what your community brings to us all, and the truth of who you are and represent will come to light. Do not give up”.

Theron elaborated in a candid conversation with contestants on the aftershow, “RuPaul’s Drag Race Untucked.”

“I have two young children and I want them to grow up in a world where they know what it means to accept what is not you, what is different and love it, not be afraid of it and embrace it, and that is my job as a mother,” she said.

“I feel like we live in a time where our words can easily become weapons against us. I care about us as people and what we can do to each other, and how powerful it is when you love and how powerful it is when you hate. “One destroys and another builds.”

Theron, a longtime supporter of LGBTQ+ causes, revealed in 2019 that her eldest daughter, Jackson, is a transgender child.

“They were born who they are and exactly where in the world they will find themselves when they grow up, and who they want to be, is not something I can decide,” she said of her two daughters. “My job as a parent is to celebrate them, love them and make sure they have everything they need to be who they want to be.”
