Chappell Roan celebrates one year since the release of his debut album, The rise and fall of a Midwestern princess.
On Sunday, Roan took to Instagram to express his immense gratitude for the milestone.
Reflecting on the past year, Roan wrote in the caption: “1 year of The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess, my life has changed forever.”
She added: “This has been amazing, difficult, beautiful, eye-opening, empowering, life-changing and every emotion possible.”
The singer thanked her fans for their support, highlighting the importance of the community in her success, saying: “Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything. Thank you for showing up for this project and believing in me.”
Roan, who received her first VMA trophy in the Best New Artist category, made sure to emphasize that her accomplishments are not solely her own.
“It's not just me making this happen, it's a team of people working hard day and night to keep this afloat. I'm very lucky and I feel very loved,” she added.
This emotional moment comes after Roan's recent revelation about his personal challenges.
In an interview with The Guardian, Roan revealed that he has been diagnosed with severe depression and takes “therapy twice a week.”
She explained: “I think it's because my whole life has changed. Everything I really like to do now has its consequences. If I want to go shopping for second-hand items, I have to hire a security service and prepare myself for this not to be normal.”
