In A Quiet Place: Day OneLupita Nyong'o plays a cancer-stricken character who faces an alien invasion. Aside from the grave danger, the actress says the role reminded her of late co-star Chadwick Boseman.
He said it was “terrifying to have to go there” in a role in which his character “really faces his mortality, even before this apocalypse happens, and whose life is slipping through his fingers.”
“It was daunting having to get there, psychologically and emotionally,” he said. Black Panther pointed to the star.
His death, Lupita says, gave an additional emotional layer to the character she played.
“In the end, it was actually very therapeutic because I had just experienced not too many years ago the death of Chadwick Boseman, which shook me to my core,” she said. People“I was definitely thinking about that a lot.”
The Oscar winner continued: “What I realized is that it's really important to be reminded of our mortality, because then we live life a little more intentionally.”

Chadwick died of colon cancer in August 2020 after keeping his illness and fight against it private.
