Belinda cannot be domesticated. His last album, 'indomitable', shows it

You don't have to contain a Belinda caliber star.

In the creation of his fifth “indomitable” study album, the Mexican singer and actor began to understand that what made her difficult to contain, in life, in love and in her career, was worth writing an album.

“I was reading a book and, suddenly, the word 'indomitable' appeared,” says Belinda in an audio call from her home in Mexico City. “For two days, I continued dreaming about that word.

On June 5, “Indomitable” is a variety of runs lying, reggaeton, rock and pop ballads with exciting collaborations, ranging from the American rock band thirty seconds to Mars to Latin stars such as Tokischa and Tito Double P.

“This album is very special, not only for women, but for all those who feel unprecedented, who feel strong, who feel like a warrior,” he explains.

The title translates directly into an indomitable or unprecedented term, a term that seems to adapt perfectly to the 35 -year -old artist, whose long and prosperous career made it an international family name.

Born in Madrid, Spain, as Belinda Peregrín Schüll, but widely known for her mononymous, Belinda began her legacy on Mexican television, assuming main roles in children's soap operas from the beginning of 2000 as “friends x always”, “adventures in time” and “complicit to the rescue”, where he has played a set of a set of a set of a Set of Twins. He also crossed Disney's sphere, appearing in the popular sequel 2006 of “The Cheetah Girls 2” such as Marisol, a Spanish pop star and competitor of the starting girls band.

Belinda's musical career has been equally so fruitful, including a season as a song coach in the television competition “La Voz” and dozens of successful singles, such as the popular “love at first sight”, a collaboration of 2020 with Los Angeles Azules and Lalo Ebratt. His previous studio albums, “Belinda” of 2003, “Utopia” of 2006, “Carpe Diem” of 2010 and “Catharsis” of 2013 have adorned the list of Latin Billboard Latin albums.

His new LP marks a personal artistic triumph for the artist, given his only Mexican regional advantage. “300 nights,” his song run 2024 with Natanael Cano, made the number 4 on the Mexican billboard pop list and appeared in the Billboard Global 200, which made him Belinda's first appearance on the list. Other runs from runs, such as the resistant “La Square” with Tito Double P and the scorching “Mirame Happy” with Xavi, unleashed a new alter ego of the famous singer known as “Beli Bélica”, the last one of which means “Guerrero” in Spanish.

“With this album, I would like to open the door to more women to sing corridos lying down,” says Belinda.

The album is already burning, with songs like “cactus” that make a subtle and spiny wink to their past relationship with Mexican singer Christian Nodal, who famous tattooed his eyes on his chest. There is also the reggaeton-corrido merger called “La Mala”, which timidly addresses rumors that Belinda is a cold and calculated lover, which increased following its high profile relationship.

Belinda is a Spanish-Mexican singer and actress.

Even so, his notoriety as a rompecorazones has granted him simultaneously State of holiness Of fans, who created false prayer cards of the charming star to reinforce her own love life.

“This album was formed by things we live every day,” says Belinda. “Someone breaks our hearts, we feel better, we fall in love, break our hearts and so on. Life is like that.”

But “indomitable” is much more than Belinda's incursion into Mexican regional music; There are also “Jackpot”, a dazzling club with Kenia Os, a tribute to the lightning cars in “Rayo McQueen” and even his love for anime in “Death Note”.

“I am a versatile artist and this album reflects that,” says Belinda.

This interview has been edited and shortened for clarity.

What motivated you to launch this album for a decade after your last, “catharsis”?
I know it may seem that it has been a long time, but I never left. I've always been involved in music. I have collaborated with Los Angeles Azules, “Love at first sight”, which was super popular, with Ana Mena in “Las 12”, Lola Indigo and Tiny in “The girl of the school”, with Juan Magán and Paziz conscious in “if he did not want.”

I have done a lot of music, but obviously this album means a lot to me. It is not the same to work in collaborations and music for other artists than to do it for myself. The album is full of collaborations with thirty seconds from Mars, which is one of my favorite bands of all time. He also has Kenia Os, Tito Double P, Neton Vega, who is a blunt act in the world of reggaeton and runs lying, and Natanael Cano, whom I can not forget either. It is a complete album, with many different styles.

Many of the songs on this album are lying down. Why did you immerse yourself in that style of music?
It is a really stigmatized genre and a genre that is specifically for men and for certain types of letters. I wanted to break that [idea] And say that the instruments used, such as trombone, the tall horn, Tololoche, are not only for men or specific letters or a specific market. There may be more romantic lyrics, a mixture of sounds like pop with urban music. The challenge was also to make my collaborators believed in this too, since they are accustomed to other songs, but everyone trusted me and believed in the song.[s] From the beginning and was organic.

Tell me more about your collaborations. What did you learn from them and what did you teach them?
They are so talented and touch the instruments very well, especially Natanael Cano; You can tell you to touch any instrument. It is very talented. We were in the studio and he started playing a song from Metallica and I said: “Wow!” Although we could enchant them in this genre, they are very versatile and talented. I admire you.

One of the singles of this album, “cactus”, talks about your feelings towards an ex. How did you feel freeing your emotions? And would you say it helped you heal? How does the song suggest?
I love to heal through music. The first phrase of the song says: “The therapy helps, but the music cures more badly.” Maybe I could not express in words what I can through music. As a composer, we express our emotions through our letters. But it is also important that people remember that not everything is based on experiences. It is music so that people can identify in love or anguish. I never mention anyone by name, but people can make their own conclusions or deductions. At the end of the day, I make music for people who can relate to the lyrics.

You have been at the center of attention for so many years. Do you think there are two belindas? As in, one that is for the public and another that is only for near family members?
Of course, I can guarantee it. There is also a song in which I express that idea that many times people have categorized me as a bad character, “La Mala”. At the end of the day, I know who I and the people around me know the heart I have: my feelings and intentions, my day to day. That is what counts for me. If I paid attention to each comment [people made of me]My God, I would be locked in a room without a way out, which sometimes happens to me.

How are you disconnect Those external critics?
I try not to see these things. Sometimes it is inevitable, but I am not deeply on the web to find what people say. I do other more productive things that feed me.

Obviously it hurts, because even if certain comments are not true, they still hurt because they have negative energy. I do not want to give in these comments as truth, but that energy of negativity or insult or humiliation or anything that comes from a negative side, obviously has a consequence. So, one has to be careful with how they express themselves, because there is a lot of negativity that exists, so it would be good if we could launch a little more love.

I heard you are a big fan of anime, and you show it in your song “Death Note”. Why was it important to include that?
Am [an] Otaku, even if people don't believe it. I really like anime. I am a fan of “One Piece”, “Death Note”, everything, “Attack on Titan”, but “Death Note” is my favorite. It's quite dark, but Ryuk is one of my favorite characters in life. I have always been a fan of terror, because within the dark, there is always some light.

You were born in Spain but they raised you in Mexico. How has both identities sailed?
I cannot choose one or the other, but I have always considered myself Mexican, because I was raised in Mexico and my accent is Mexican. I am very, very Latin.

What advice would you give to your youngest self?
Do not take everything so personally and enjoy life. When I was little, I would think too much about what the world thought. I always said: “Do you like it? Oh, right?” And I would suffer. And now, if I like it, that's fine, and if nobody else likes it, then pity, I like it!
