Peshawar Zalmi secured their third consecutive win in PSL after restricting Islamabad to 193 against a target of 202 runs.
Pakistan's star batsman and Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has credited his mother for bringing him good luck during the century he made against Islamabad United during the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Babar's comments come as Peshawar triumphed over Islamabad, their third consecutive victory in the tournament, by eight runs in the 13th match of the PSL, courtesy of their 11th T20 century along with Arif Yaqoob's five-wicket haul.
The right-handed batsman expressed his opinion at the post-match ceremony: “My mother came [to watch] for the first time. She is very happy. She enjoyed it. She always looks at home but she proved to be [a source of] good luck for me. “She came to watch the game and I scored a hundred.”
A day earlier, Peshawar managed to restrict Islamabad to 193 for the loss of nine wickets after posting a target of 202 runs in the first innings.
Islamabad looked set for victory after a remarkable fourth-wicket partnership between Colin Munro and Azam Khan, but Yaqoob's four-wicket haul in the 19th over swung the momentum back in Peshawar's favour.
This marks the first instance in PSL history where a bowler has claimed four wickets in a single over, and Yaqoob concluded with figures of 5 for 27.
