'Avatar 3' Trailer: 'Fire and Ash' presents the people of Ash

The “Avatar: Fire and Ash” trailer is finally here.

The third installment of the “Avatar” series of James Cameron returns to Pandora and presents a new Na'vi tribe: the Mangkwan clan, also known as The Ash People, directed by the fierce Varang (Oona Chaplin).

While much is not known about the Mangkwan clan and its leader, the trailer offers a first look at its ashen home, destroyed by a volcanic eruption. The footage positions Varang, who uses a red headdress and can manipulate the fire, as an adversary of Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and his family. It is a marked deviation of “The Way of Water” of 2022, which led to the underwater spectators to the world of Methayina clan.

The trailer also shows a tense exchange between Varang and Kiri (Sigourney Weaver): “Your goddess has no domain here,” says the burning leader, with a red and black headdress.

“Varang is the leader of a town that has gone through an incredible difficulty. It hardens for that,” Cameron told Empire in an interview published in January. “She will do anything for them, even things we would consider evil.”

In addition to the people of Ash, the trailer includes a look at wind merchants, a nomadic nomad clan that travels aboard airborne ships drawn by massive creatures similar to jellyfish. He also makes fun that the movie will see Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) being captured by humans.

They also return to the Kate Winslet (Ronal) and Jack Champion (Spider) team. In addition to Chaplin, David Thewlis joins the cast as Playlak, the head of wind merchants.

The trailer appeared for the first time in Cinemacon in April and launched exclusively in theaters before “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, which opened on Thursday.

“Fire and Ash” occurs three years after “Way of Water” and 16 years after the original film. The first two films were nominated for the best film in the Oscars and “Way of Water” was the most recaller of 2022. But Cameron has suggested that the third installment can be surprising for fans of their predecessors.

“One thing we wanted to do in this movie is not to be simplistic in black and white,” he told Empire. “We are trying to evolve beyond the paradigm 'All humans are bad, all na'vi are good.'

“Fire and Ash” arrives at theaters on December 19. Fourth and fifth quotas are expected on December 21, 2029 and December 19, 2031, respectively.
