ISLAMABAD: Differences between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continue to deepen as senior leaders Asad Qaiser and Senator Shibli Faraz exchanged heated words over the expulsion of Sher Afzal Marwat from the party's political committee during a meeting on Monday, sources said Geographic news.

According to sources, Qaiser, during the PTI political committee meeting, claimed that Marwat's expulsion from the party's political committees was an “injustice”.

Faraz questioned Qaiser who is he to speak on party policy issues. The latter responded: “You have been affiliated with a party for some years. I have been with the founder of the PTI since 1995.”

“Who are you to talk to me like this? The way the political committee was used against Sher Afzal Marwat is an injustice,” Qaiser said, after which the political committee members pressured Faraz to apologize.

Sources further revealed that Faraz apologized for the way he spoke and acted during the meeting. They added that Qaiser left the meeting due to Faraz's behavior.

On May 9, PTI general secretary Omar Ayub Khan said that Marwat had been expelled from the party's political and central committees on the directives of party founder Imran Khan.

The development came after the outspoken Marwat publicly criticized top PTI leaders and refused to work under them.

Following this, Marwat was also given a show-cause notice for violating the party's code of conduct and policy. The notice said Marwat has issued “irresponsible statements” that damaged the party's reputation and interests despite receiving clear instructions from Khan.

He further said that the politician has damaged relationships with party colleagues and stakeholders through his actions and words.

A day earlier, Khan, while talking to reporters, said that he had explained to Marwat several times not to violate party policy, however, he used to attack some party leaders every other day.

The PTI founder said Marwat has done a lot for the party but he should not have repeatedly violated the party policy, adding that there will be no problem if he follows the party policy.
