Almost two decades after the fact, Anna Wintour is finally giving her “The Devil Wears Prada” review, Anne Hathaway's comedy 2006 built around the Vogue editor in the boss in the leadership head.
And although Wintour comes more than fashion late, it is being presented on time for the sequel.
The movie “I had a lot of humor, had a lot of ingenuity, had Meryl Streep,” Wintour said recently at the New Yorker Radio time. “[The cast] They were all incredible. And in the end, I thought it was a fair shot. “
The famous editor, who resigned from Vogue's concert this summer, said she entered the premiere of the original film with Prada but without knowing what the film was about. Wintour said that people in the fashion industry had expressed concern about Miranda's priestly character, worrying that he was interpreted as a cartoon of Wintour. But those fears were unfounded.
“First, it was Meryl Streep, [who is] fantastic.”
“The Devil Wears Prada” is based on the best -selling novel of 2003 of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, who worked as Wintour personal assistant. The film follows a writer played by Hathaway who gets a job in a fashion magazine administered by a very demanding boss, played by Streep.
The actor who played the editor in meaningless chief won a nomination for the Academy Award for his performance.
Wintour announced in June that he would resign as editor in chief of the magazine after 37 years to the helm. She will continue to supervise Condé Nast, the global media company that Vogue publishes, among other publications, including the New Yorker, GQ, Vanity Fair and Wired.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is in production with a launch date established for May 2026. Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci will repeat their roles; Adrian Grenier, who played Hathaway's boyfriend in the original film, will not appear. The new cast members include Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux and Lucy Liu.
