The birth of star Shaheen Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi's son has not only left the couple elated but has also brought a lot of happiness to Ansha's father and former captain Shahid Afridi.
“Aliyaar is here,” Afridi can be heard saying in a video, as he held his grandson and welcomed him with his two daughters.
“We have to pray for him so that Allah allows him to continue sirat-ul-mustaqeem (straight path),” said the former cricketer, interacting with one of his younger daughters.
Afridi's video comes after his daughter Ansha and son-in-law Shaheen welcomed their first child on Saturday last week.
With the arrival of his grandson, the former Pakistani captain has become a grandfather for the first time.
Following the announcement of Aliyaar's birth, Shaheen took to her social media accounts to share a heartwarming picture of the couple holding their son's hand.
“My heart is full and my life has just gotten so much better. 24/08/2024 will always be special for us. Welcome to the world my son, Aliyaar Afridi,” the left-arm pacer said in the caption.
Shaheen also called his wife Ansha the “support system” for his small family and expressed gratitude towards her for “all the pain and suffering she had to endure.”
It should be noted that the couple got married in February 2023 when their Bride The wedding took place at a local mosque in Karachi. The duo's wedding ceremony was held in September that year in the port city, followed by a Valima reception in Islamabad.
