- Kundi does not admit any respite in the face of KP's loss of electrical charge.
- The governor says he expected a reduction in power outages after the meetings.
- “The problems will not be solved by attacks on network stations.”
After Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, his political rival Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also complained about the incessant hours-long power cuts that continue to torment the people of the province.
With temperatures rising across the country as climate change shows its effects, power outages have become frequent and longer in some areas, leading to back-to-back protests, with incidents of forced restoration of supply of energy in the northwestern province.
The prolonged load shedding in KP has created a rift between the provincial and federal governments as CM Gandapur continues to attack the Center with criticism and threats for resolving the issue on priority basis.
However, Kundi also admitted that load shedding in the province could not be reduced even though all meetings addressed the issue.
The KP governor, who is also the central information secretary of the PPP, said on Monday that he hoped the power cuts would be reduced after the prime minister's meeting with Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Energy Minister , Awais Leghari.
“Despite all the meetings, load shedding could not be reduced,” Kundi said.
Aiming his guns at Gandapur, who is a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwart, the governor said he wanted the duration of the volley to be reduced to six hours before the CM announced a duration of 12 hours.
He asked Gandapur to implement the 12-hour load shedding program instead of forcibly restoring power supply.
“The problems will not be solved by raids on grid stations,” Kundi added, as PTI lawmakers continue to cause problems for electricity supply companies under the authority of the Center in KP.
The political firebrand under his administration has allowed lawmakers to use force to restore electricity supply to feeders in the province suffering from more than 12 hours of load shedding.
Except for K-Electric, which was privatized in 2005, all power distribution companies are owned by the Government of Pakistan as the matter of power supply is handled by the federal government.
The Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (TESCO) is responsible for the supply of electricity in the tribal areas, including North and South Waziristan, while the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) supplies power to the rest of the tribal areas. the province.
Gandapur warned the Shehbaz Sharif-led federal government that things could get out of control if it does not reduce load shedding to a maximum of 12 hours in its province.
Following the footsteps of his party legislators, the KP CM himself restored power supply on the third day of Eid ul Adha.
