Today is the day: The 2024 Emmy nominations are here.
Emmy Award-winning actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale will announce the nominees for the 76th Emmy Awards on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. PT. Follow the full list here.
Among the shows expected to score nominations is FX’s “The Bear,” which swept the comedy scene at the 2023 Emmy Awards (which were delayed by the strike but will be handed out in 2024) in January. There’s also a good chance Ralph and his “Abbott Elementary” colleagues will be recognized by the Television Academy once again. (As a result of the actors’ and writers’ strikes, there will be fewer nominees this year because fewer shows were up for awards.)
On the drama side, FX's “Shōgun” is expected to receive multiple nominations. The epic Jidaigekior the Japanese period drama, was initially launched as a limited series but was recently renewed for two more seasons to expand the story beyond the James Clavell novel on which it is based.
The miniseries category is always competitive, and among the top contenders are two well-known anthology series that had very strong seasons: HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country” and FX’s “Fargo.” Also in the running is Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer,” which is generating a lot of buzz.
