Local authorities in Indianapolis said Monday that at least one woman succumbed to her injuries after a shooting at a Waffle House restaurant, leaving five others injured.

The incident comes a day after three officers were killed in Burnsville, Minnesota, while responding to initial reports of domestic abuse.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said Sunday that the shooter was also dead, however, his cause of death was not revealed.

Last week, one person was also killed and several people were injured during a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, Missouri.

A statement issued by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Monday: “Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the restaurant on Lynhurst Drive around 12:30 a.m..”

A woman was also taken to hospital along with five other people in critical condition, but was later pronounced dead.

Among the injured were another woman and three men who are now in stable condition.

According to police, the sixth injured man went to the hospital separately with gunshot wounds and was considered seriously injured.

Authorities are considering the Waffle House shooting the result of a fight between two groups. It has not yet been determined whether the shooting victims were involved in the use of firearms.

“What preliminary [information] “What we have is that this was a disturbance that turned into a fight between two groups of people,” Indianapolis Police Capt. Don Weilhammer told Fox59, adding that “at least one gun was recovered in the Waffle House scene.

“Another weapon was recovered from [a] car at a local hospital.”

A Waffle House spokesperson said the restaurant chain was referring all questions about the shooting to local authorities and said, “We are cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation into this incident.”

The shooting came just after at least two police officers and a paramedic were shot to death after receiving reports of domestic abuse in Burnsville, Minnesota, on Sunday.

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), the shooter was also dead, without revealing the cause of his death.

The slain officers were identified as Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, both 27, and firefighter and paramedic Adam Finseth, 40.
