WASHINGTON: The United States sees evidence that Iran is trying to rebuild its nuclear program after the US-led attacks on Iranian nuclear sites in June, Vice President JD Vance said Wednesday.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that the June attacks destroyed Iran's nuclear facilities and that he will not allow Tehran to reconstitute the program.
“The principle is very simple: Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Vance told reporters, a day before talks in Geneva between US and Iranian delegations.
Vance said U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will meet with an Iranian delegation in Geneva on Thursday to assess whether a deal can be reached, with a massive U.S. military presence in the region.
