Judge Julia Sebutinde, who voted against all interim rulings against Israel by a top UN court in connection with a South African complaint about the Gaza genocide, has been isolated from Uganda.

“Judge Sebutinde's ruling at the ICJ (the International Court of Justice) does not represent the position of the Ugandan government on the situation in Palestine,” Uganda's permanent representative to the UN, Adonia Ayebare, wrote in X. “Uganda's support for the plight of the Palestinian people has been expressed through our voting pattern at the United Nations.”

On December 29, South Africa took Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague on charges of committing genocide against the Palestinians.

The ICJ ruled on Friday that South Africa's claim that Israel is committing genocide is valid. According Quds News NetworkThe court ordered Israel to stop obstructing aid deliveries and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza in a provisional ruling.

Sebutinde abstained from voting on the six ICJ proposals. He is currently receiving backlash for his vote from people around the world, with some social media users saying Ugandans should be ashamed.

“Judge Julia Sebutinde is a shame to her country and a shame to humanity. Not only did she vote against the South African petition, but she voted against reason and morality, justice and freedom, love and compassion. She voted against the very soul of humanity,” wrote one Kenyan user on X.

“Julia Sebutinde is a disgrace to all of us in Africa, especially African women. “She proved that she is nothing more than a paid agent for the criminal Zionist Entity of Israel,” wrote another.

Sebutinde was the only judge to rule against Israel's emergency orders.

However, the UN court ordered Israel to take all necessary measures to prevent genocide within the embattled enclave, regardless of its verdict.
