By expressing optimism about ending the Ukraine War, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said Monday that he had recently talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin after his Washington meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders.

It was known that Trump spoke with Putin on August 18, when he interrupted his conversations with Zelensky and the White House Europeans to call the Russian leader.

“Yes, I have done it,” Trump told reporters when asked if he had spoken with Putin since then.

When asked how the last conversations were, Trump replied: “Every conversation I have with him is a good conversation. And then, unfortunately, a bomb is loaded in Kyiv or somewhere, and I am very angry for that.”

Trump also celebrated a historic summit with Putin in Alaska on August 15 in an attempt to seal an agreement to end the invasion of Ukraine in Russia.

After his previous call on August 18, Trump said Putin had agreed to celebrate a bilateral meeting with Zelensky, but Moscow has said that there are no plans for such conversations.

“Because he doesn't like it,” Trump said when he was asked why Putin seemed reluctant to face Zellensky.

Trump said, however, that he still believed that an agreement to end Russia's War against Ukraine was in sight.

“I think we are going to make war,” he said.

After the conversations with Zelensky and the Europeans, the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, agreed to maintain the discussions among the allies towards a future agreement.

The State Department said that Rubio spoke on Monday in a joint call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as well as his counterparts from Great Britain, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland and the European Union.

The ministers agreed to “continue cooperation in diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war through a lasting negotiated agreement,” said state department spokesman Tommy Pigott.

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani of Italy, whose right -wing government has worked to unite the United States and other Europeans, requested Ukraine inspired by the promise of collective defense.

Tajani “highlighted the importance of concrete and credible security guarantees for Ukraine, especially to strengthen the Ukrainian armed forces and their defense industry,” he said, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said that Italy was ready to participate in land and sea decrease operations.

Last week, Trump told Zelensky Vagly for Forward Movement about security guarantees, but has repeatedly put Russia by ruling out the Ukraine membership in NATO.
