A TikTok user named Brooke Johnson shared a video in which she shares her technique for taking a comfortable nap on long flights but it has raised concerns among experts.

In the video, Johson crossed her legs to her chest and fastened her seat belt around her ankles while sitting inside a plane.

“I fly two to four times a month, and all flights last more than four hours on average,” says Johnson. People. “When I was a kid, I played all the time to find a comfortable way to sit, and I found one that worked. I've been practicing the seat belt trick for as long as I can remember.”

He said the method allows you to relax without disturbing your neighbor.

He said flight attendants and other air travel experts advised against this trend.

“I, of course, do not do this during takeoff or landing. Only when we have reached cruising altitude and people are moving around the cabin,” he emphasizes. “When there's turbulence, I definitely click correctly out of fear.”

Johnson uses the seat belt method because of the limited space airlines allocate to each passenger.

Still, according to Dr. Michael Breus (PhD, FAASM), founder of The Sleep Doctor, Brooke's nap technique “seems like one of the dumbest ideas I've ever seen.”

“If there is an emergency, I would assume both legs are broken, and if there is even mild turbulence, it could be another problem, probably a head injury,” he said.
